About Hammarby in English

Why Hammarby in English?

Hammarby is a great club for exiles to go and get their football fix. Speaking as a Brit it reminds me of the games I used to go to as a young teenager, when you could stand, sing and shout without officious stewards telling you to sit down and shut up.

When I moved to Stockholm from UK the thing I really missed was watching live football. One of my then colleagues took me to a Bajen game and I was hooked. I had originally intended to visit all three Stockholm clubs, AIK, Djurgården and Bajen but after one visit to Söderstadion I knew Hammarby IF was the club for me.

I am great believer in supporting your local club and as I lived in Södermalm then the decision was an easy one.

My Swedish isn’t great but I can just about follow the reports. Last season I found it really frustrating to go to a game and not understand the match reports and interviews afterwards. Here I will try and communicate in English some Bajen news and views.

I would also like this blog to act as a hub for any non Swedish speaking (but English speaking!) football fans who go or are interested in watching Hammarby.
